The African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) is seeking competent consultants to evaluate the level of rehabilitation and construction works around the Dja Faunal Reserve. The objective of this consultancy is to assess the extent of rehabilitation and construction to be carried out at various locations around the Reserve and to produce detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQs) for all works, along with architectural drawings for the new constructions.
The African Wildlife Foundation is an international conservation organisation working in large landscapes across the African continent. The organisation works to ensure wildlife and wildlands thrive in modern Africa through a multi-faceted approach of conservation strategies for wildlife, wildlands and people. The Dja Faunal Reserve, a World Heritage Site located in southeastern Cameroon, is one of the largest and best-protected rainforests in Africa. It hosts rich biodiversity including endangered species such as lowland gorillas, chimpanzees, and forest elephants.
To enhance conservation field operations, there has been infrastructure development put in place around the Reserve several years ago including ranger posts, base camps. The buildings have been used up for more that 15 years and some are not in good state that warrant the need for rehabilitation. Under the project Natura Sud-Est in Dja implemented by the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) and in collaboration with the Ministry of Forests and Wildlife (MINFOF), a number of existing structures will be rehabilitated, and new facilities are planned to improve staff accommodation, surveillance, and monitoring capacities. To ensure quality control, compliance with technical standards, and inform level of investment on the construction and rehabilitation to be carried out, an independent evaluation is required to assess the current state of the infrastructure and produce a comprehensive Bill of Quantities for both rehabilitation and new construction.
