RFP: Solarization and water reticulation of Taita Hills Borehole
Project Background
African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) is a non-profit international conservation organization that focuses on critically important landscapes in Africa. AWF is implementing a water project funded by TUI CARE FOUNDATION to drill a borehole, equip it with solar panels and undertake water reticulation at Taita Hills Sanctuary in Taita Taveta County-Kenya.
The borehole has already been drilled with the following parameters:

Based on the above parameters, AWF is requesting for proposal (RFP) from qualified firms to install a solar pumping system and water reticulation for the borehole as described below;
A. Scope of Work
I. Pump and Motor Installation: choose the right size of pump and Motor for the recommended installation depth and output.
II. Solarization of the Borehole
Supplies needed:
• Ground mounted Solar Pumping system with DC Cabling,
• Surge protector,
• Fuse,
• pure Sine Wave Hybrid inverter,
• lighting arrestor in a steel louvered perforated enclosure.
III. Borehole and Pump protection
• Installation of a sensor to protect the burn out of the pump when the water levels go below and allow the Borehole to recharge.
For more information, refer to the test pumping report attached.
IV. Water reticulation (find attached BOQ)
This will involve:
a) Construction of a concrete water tank (70,000 litres) at an elevated point
b) Digging trench for water pipeline from the borehole to the concrete water tank
c) Digging trenches for two water distribution pipelines from the concrete water tank
(Line 1 distance - 500m, Line 2 distance - 2.5km)
c) Pipe installation in the trenches
d) Construction of two animal watering troughs
