The African Wildlife Foundation is proud to announce a one-of-a-kind safari that offers the best in both travel and wildlife conservation. AWF has partnered with Ker & Downey Safaris Ltd. to design an itinerary which showcases some of the most spectacular wildlife viewing areas and accommodations in Kenya.

The wildlife, however, is just one aspect of this country's magic. Besides the ageless and colorful lifestyle of the Maasai and Samburu peoples, there are many AWF conservation programs and research scientists engaged in protecting and studying Kenya's unique heritage. We have therefore organized several exclusive and personal 'behind-the-scenes' interactions with a few of the country's prominent conservationists and scientific researchers.

The 12 day safari takes place in December 2007, and spaces go quickly. Reserve your spot today.

Safari Details

The safari begins in the secluded outskirts of Nairobi, where you will stay at the Ngong House, a private home and delightful place to relax after your flight. Ngong House offers an exclusive and personalized service with accommodation in five separate "tree houses" which provide uninterrupted views of the legendary Ngong Hills.

Next, you will visit Amboseli National Park, where elephants roam at the base of Africa's highest peak, Mt. Kilimanjaro. We spend 3 nights in our own private camp, where great views of Mt Kilimanjaro, intimate interactions with the local Maasai tribespeople, and unrivalled elephant viewing.

From the wetlands of Amboseli, we fly north to the Laikipia Plateau, in the heart of the wildlife-rich Ewaso ecosystem. We will stay at the Loisaba Lodge on a private wildlife conservancy. Incredibly rich in both biodiversity and topography, Loisaba is in the heartland of the Laikipiak Maasai community. Elephants, kudu, giraffe, gazelles abound. With luck, we might spot endangered Grevy's zebras and African wild dogs.

Visit some of the best wildlife areas that East Africa has to offer with the people who know the land, the wildlife and the people the best. AWF has been at the forefront of African wildlife conservation for 46 years. Ker & Downey has been leading Africa's best safaris for 60 years. Together, AWF and Ker & Downey have designed a unique safari that you won't want to miss.

From Loisaba, we fly southwest to Kenya's most famous game reserve -- the Masai Mara. The Mara's rolling grassland and riverine forests are the northern extension of Tanzania's famous Serengeti National Park. The Mara is especially noted for its predators with large prides of lions, and smaller carnivores like servals and genets. Cheetah and hyena are all found here and of course so is the elusive leopard. Elephant, Maasai giraffe, buffalo, zebra, topi, hartebeest and large herds of gazelle are found in the Mara year round.

The safari concludes back in Nairobi with a traditional farewell dinner.
