A Rare Rhino Encounter

It was a cool and rainy morning for a game drive. The weather and lush green landscape, combined with the curves in the road, made it difficult to spot wildlife until we were within close proximity.

We idled behind this rhinoceros as it crossed the road, disappearing into the misty fog.

With rhino poaching rates steadily increasing each year in South Africa (over 1,000 recorded poachings last year), it breaks my heart to think the rhinos I’ve seen in the parks I’ve visited may no longer be there.
