Whether assessing the needs of local people in a small village in Botswana, or discussing policy with world leaders in Washington, Patrick’s conservation efforts take him all over the world. Although he barely has time for a cup of coffee, those bumpy drives through the African Heartlands are helping to ensure a bright future for African wildlife, landscapes and the people who inhabit them.

Under Patrick’s guidance, AWF has vastly expanded the scope of its programs and doubled the number of countries in which it operates. This has enabled AWF to facilitate multinational agreements, which are crucial to protecting animals whose range is independent of political borders. Patrick has also played a critical role in turning AWF from a conventional non-profit into an ‘e-organization’ with both internal operations and external marketing based on modern technology and strategy.

Despite these impressive accomplishments Patrick is proudest of the team professionals which he has assembled, more than 80% of whom are Africans and 100% of whom are passionate about protecting Africa and its people.
