A prodigious leaper, the bush baby pushes off with its powerful hindlegs and holds its arms up, leaping more than 20 feet.

Keep It Wild
AWF
Support the African Heartlands

A decade ago AWF developed a revolutionary approach to conservation in Africa: the Heartlands Program. Through this science-based strategy, AWF has identified large-scale landscapes that are critical to sustaining Africa's biodiversity. These priority landscapes have the potential to conserve viable populations of lions, elephants, wild dogs, zebras, and other wildlife, as well as key habitats and ecological systems. Far larger than any park or reserve, an African Heartland combines national parks and local villages, government lands and private lands into a large, cohesive conservation landscape that often spans international borders. With the support of members, donors and our steadfast partners, AWF is able to carry out an integrated set of conservation interventions in each Heartland that secures land for wildlife piece by piece. We hope you will help too.
